Under the patronage of the President of Al-Kafeel University, Prof. Dr. Nawras Muhammad Shahid Al-Dahan, the College of Dentistry, under the supervision of the Continuing Education Division, held a scientific symposium entitled (“Drugs and Psychotropic Substances” an in-depth look from multiple angles), in which both Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Ali Aboud Al-Khafaji and Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Hashem Hussein and the teacher, Dr. Hossam Ali Al-Obaidi, on Monday, 6/21/2021, in the presence of the President of the University, accompanied by his administrative assistant, and a number of deans of faculties, medical staff, university employees and students.

The seminar consisted of three themes:

The first section is the medically tackled, in which Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Hashem Hussein discussed the definition of addiction, symptoms of drug addiction, the spread of drugs, types of drugs and their impact on the individual and society, and the treatment of drug addiction. Addiction to this substance is narcotics and psychotropic substances that illustrate the danger of drugs.

The second section is tackled from the legal point of view, in which the Assistant Professor Dr. Ahmed Ali Abboud Al-Khafaji, the Dean of the Faculty of Law at our university touched on the axis of legal treatment. Drug crimes are among the most dangerous crimes and have the most impact on the individual and society, where gangs that do everything in their power to traffic in drugs have resorted to issuing strict laws based on This is due to the international agreements on drug control and as a result of being subjected to severe penalties, they have resorted to pills and medicines containing the narcotic substance.

The third section is tackled from the religious and educational point of view, the lecturer, Dr. Hossam Ali Hassan Al-Obaidi, the head of the Sharia Department and the head of the Department of Psychological Counseling and Educational Guidance,  talked about Drugs from the Qur’anic perspective, that Islamic Sharia, as a general and comprehensive law, is based on the interest of the human being and the keenness to protect him from all kinds of evils that threaten his daily life, by which It will keep him away from the remembrance of God Almighty, which will harm his mind and affect him and his health.

At the end of the seminar, discussion was bended and all questions from the audience were answered.
