Under the patronage of Prof. Dr. Nawras Mohammed Shaheed Al-Dahan, rector of the university, the Department of Psychological Guidance and Educational Orientation held the events and activities of the Week of Psychological Guidance and Educational Orientation, which started on Saturday 11/23/2024 and continues until Wednesday 11/27/2024, at the university gardens.

    The attendees were Prof. Dr. Nawras Mohammed Shaheed Al-Dahan, rector of the university, vice-rector for scientific affairs , Prof.Dr. Nawal Ayed Al-Mayali, the deans of the colleges, the teaching staff and a large number of students.

    In a statement by Asst.Prof.Dr. Dr. Hussam Ali Hassan Al-Obaidi, Director of the Department of Guidance at the university, he explained that these events come in implementation of the directives of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, which called for holding a week for Psychological Guidance and Educational Orientation in all Iraqi universities. The aim of these events is to introduce students to the importance of guidance and educational activities in supporting their mental health and enhancing their educational skills.

    In a special statement by Prof. Dr. Nawal Ayed Al-Mayali, vice-rector for scientific affairs, she stressed that the Psychological Guidance and Educational Orientation Week is one of the important activities that contribute to enhancing the awareness of the students to the importance of mental health and educational progress , noting that the university always seeks to create a comprehensive and diverse educational environment that supports students and helps them face the psychological and educational challenges during their academic career.

    Al-Mayali added that the university sets great efforts to implement guidance activities that support students in developing their personal and scientific skills, stressing that these activities run in line with the vision of the university to provide comprehensive support to students in all academic and psychological aspects.

    The Psychological Guidance and Educational Orientation Week includes many activities that aim to provide an educational and guidance environment that encourages interaction and participation by students. They are as follows: 

- Opening of the Guidance Tent: 

It is designed under the slogan "Guidance Week Tent" and contains guidance slogans directed at students, two screens displaying guidance instructions and awareness video prepared by students to introduce guidance and university activities.

- Exhibition of Books and Brochures: In collaboration with the Central Library at the University, a collection of educational and psychological books and brochures are displayed . Here comes a competition to summarize an educational or psychological book to encourage the students to read and boost their guidance culture.

- Guiding Lectures: Monday, by the Family Culture Center at the Holy Al-`Abbas Shrine to provide psychological and educational consultations to our students, in particular the female students.

- Interactive Dialogue : it will be on Monday, presented by a group of specialists in the educational and training field on youth issues and how to deal with them in scientific educational ways.

Through these activities, the university seeks to provide a safe academic environment that enhances the psychological and educational health of students, and solidifies awareness of the importance of these spaces in their daily lives.
