University of Alkafeel Hosting International Workshop on Medical Education in Collaboration with St. George’s University, UK

As part of the activities of its sixth international scientific conference, the College of Medicine at University of Alkafeel organized a specialized workshop on medical education, in collaboration with St. George’s University in the United Kingdom, on Saturday 4/1/2025.

    The workshop was titled (Advancing Excellence in Medical Education: Assessment, Curriculum Design, and Accreditation) to deal on its first day with "Curriculum Design and OSCE Evaluation" presented by Prof. James Coey from St. George’s University, in the presence of an elite group of professors from medical colleges in private and state Iraqi universities and a number of distinguished academic figures.

    The workshop included in-depth discussions on the latest methods in designing educational curricula in medicine, in addition to evaluating students using the OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) system. The topic of academic accreditation and the importance of improving the quality of medical education in line with international standards was also addressed.

     In this regard, Asst. Prof.Dr. Samer Maki Al-Hakak, Dean of the College of Medicine at University of Alkafeel , stressed that the workshop is an important step towards developing medical education in Iraq, noting that University of Alkafeel is always a pioneer in organizing scientific conferences and workshops that aim to enhance collaboration between international and local universities.

     For his part, Prof.James Coey praised the level of education and infrastructure of the College of Medicine at University of Alkafeel , stressing the importance of exchanging experiences between academic institutions to develop medical education.

    This workshop is a valuable opportunity to enhance collaboration between Iraqi and international universities in the fields of medical education, which contributes to raising the level of academic efficiency and developing educational outcomes in the health sector.
