For more International Standards , University of Alkafeel Adopts OSCE Clinical Examination to Qualify Students

On Monday, April 14, 2025, the College of Medicine at University of Alkafeel organized a mock clinical skills exam based on the OSCE (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) system for third-year students. The exam took place in the Clinical Skills Laboratory Hall, under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Asst.Prof. Dr. Samer Makki Al-Hakak, with the participation of his scientific and administrative assistants, and in the presence of Profe.Dr. Hilal Al-Saffar, Advisor to the President of the University.

    The third exam was held in the Clinical Skills Laboratory Hall under the supervision of the Dean of the College, Asst.Prof. Dr. Samer Maki Al-Hakak, with the participation of his scientific and administrative assistants. The exam was also attended by Professor Dr. Hilal Al-Saffar, Advisor to the President of the University for Medical Education, and a number of doctors from Al-Hakim Teaching Hospital in Najaf.

This exam served as a preparatory step for the final OSCE exam, which is a modern and internationally recognized method for assessing students' clinical skills.

The exam involved organizing students into groups and moving them between multiple stations simulating realistic clinical scenarios, including clinical examination skills, data interpretation, emergency, medical communication, and scientific questioning by examining professors.

The exam opened with an explanatory session presented by the teaching team. During the session, the exam mechanism, the method of moving between stations, and the approved evaluation system, which is based on international standards and the "Global Rating," were explained.

126 third-year students participated in this exam to train and qualify them to pass the final exam efficiently and develop their practical skills in dealing with various medical cases.  Such a step comes as part of the development approach followed by the College of Medicine at University of Alkafeel , which aims to provide high-quality medical education that meets international academic standards and contributes to preparing qualified medical personnel to meet future challenges in the healthcare sector.
