In an academic step to enhance the quality of medical education and develop the clinical skills of the students , the Medical Education Chamber at the College of Medicine at University of Alkafeel held a detailed meeting on Wednesday, July 9, 2025. The meeting was chaired by Asst. Prof.Dr. Samer Makki Al-Hakak, Dean of the College, and attended by assistant deans and a number of professors and instructors from the departments of Pediatrics and Obstetrics and Gynecology, as well as members of Curriculum Committee at the College. The meeting reflected a deep discussion of the academic preparation plan for the new academic year for fourth-year students. Draft curricula proposed for both branches were presented : the distribution of subjects between theoretical and clinical aspects, the number of weekly hours for each, and a review of the schedule for lectures and clinical training.
In his opening remarks, the Dean emphasized the pivotal importance of the fourth stage in building the clinical competence of the students , and the need for effective coordination between theoretical and practical education in the teaching hospitals.
The attendees agreed to include training workshops and periodic practical assessments in the curriculum to boost the practical understanding and develop medical skills. Representatives of the branches were also tasked with submitting the final version of the curriculum plan in a week, in preparation for its presentation to the College Council for final approval. The meeting concluded with an agreement to hold a follow-up session in a month to review implementation phases and identify future challenges and needs.
