College of Medicine , University of Alkafeel , held the Alkafeel Basic Course in Medical Education in collaboration with the Royal College of Physicians Network/London – Iraq Branch on Monday, 15 September 2025, in the presence of the vice-chancellor for academic affairs, Prof.Dr. Nawal Ayed Al-Mayali, the Dean of the College of Medicine, assistants, and faculty members.

     The course aims to develop the capabilities and competencies of teaching staff in the colleges of the medical group by examining methods for developing educational curricula and modern learning and assessment means , thus contributing to achieving the educational desired outcomes in accordance with international accreditation standards.

     The course will be attended by faculty members from University of Alkafeel  and physicians from the Najaf Health Department. Lectures will be delivered by Prof.Dr. Hilal Al-Saffar, Head of Royal College of Physicians Fellows Network in Iraq and Advisor to the President of University of Alkafeel  for Medical Education, Asst.Prof. Dr. Basim Nadhir Abdul Hadi from the College of Medicine, University of Iraq.

     The course showed distinguished participation from the physicians of the Najaf Health Department, such could promote a kind of integration between the academic and field sectors and exchange practical experiences, which will contribute to developing the teaching capabilities of physicians and raising the quality of the educational and healthcare process.

    The course, for two days and eight hours of training, includes seven specialized educational modules focused on the themes and strategies of modern medical education, effective student assessment methods and quality assurance in the educational process.

          Upon completion of the course requirements, the participants will receive certificates accredited by University of Alkafeel  and the Royal College of Physicians Fellows Network. These certificates are a basic requirement for faculty members in medical group of the university.

     This course is part of the ongoing efforts the University of Alkafeel shows to improve the quality of medical education and develop academic staff to meet the highest standards of excellence and international accreditation.
