University of Alkafeel held a universal meeting on Saturday, 20 September 2025, chaired by University President, Prof.Dr. Nawras Mohammed Shaheed Al-Dahan , and attended by the Academic Vice President, Prof. Dr. Nawal Ayed Al-Mayali , the deans of the various faculties, their assistants, department and branch heads, and the teaching staff.
At the outset of the meeting, the university president congratulated the faculty members on the significant achievements in the previous academic year, most notably the full institutional accreditation for the University of Alkafeel that sets it the first Iraqi university to receive this distinction, and its ranking as the highest-rated private university in Iraq. He also congratulated them on the full program accreditation of its faculties, as being the first in Iraq to achieve this pioneering academic milestone. He further congratulated them on the establishment of a new faculty and new academic departments within the university, emphasizing that this represents a significant expansion in the academic journey and addresses the growing needs of students and the job market.
Prof. Dr. Al-Dahan expressed his deep appreciation to all university staff for their tremendous efforts and dedication to the educational and research endeavors, conveying the greetings of the Custodian of the Holy Abbas Shrine, Seid. Ahmed Al-Safi (may Allah last his glory). He also commended the General Secretariat of the Holy Abbas Shrine for its support and patronage of the university, and for its important initiatives to develop education and serve the community.
The meeting included discussions of the academic plans for the new year, a review of experiences from the previous year, and intensive preparations for the Seventh International Scientific Conference, which is considered a key event in promoting scientific research and expanding horizons of academic cooperation. The university president emphasized that instilling ethical values in students is fundamental to developing a well-rounded academic personality, noting the commitment of the university to integrating the latest technologies into education. This, he said, contributes to improving the quality of academic output and aligns with the aspirations of the Holy Abbas Shrine to prepare a generation of responsible individuals capable of facing future challenges.
The discussions also addressed the importance of holding specialized seminars and workshops to develop the skills of the students and enhance their practical abilities and updating curricula and equipping laboratories with modern facilities. Such could surely and positively impact the quality of the learning environment.
The session concluded with constructive contributions from deans and faculty members, who presented visions and ideas to support the development of the educational and research processes. It was agreed to continue holding regular meetings to monitor the implementation of plans and evaluate performance based on clear academic indicators.
It is worth noting that this meeting is held twice a year, at the beginning of the new academic year and at the end of the first semester, serving as a platform to review performance and reconsider academic plans in line with student needs and scientific advancements.
