On Monday, 29 September 2025, the College of Medicine at University of Alkafeel held a meeting for the Curriculum Committee with a number of English language experts. The meeting was chaired by the Dean of the College, Asst. Prof. Dr. Samer Maki Al-Hakak, and his assistants, and attended by the Head of Medical Education, Prof. Dr. Hilal Bahjat Al-Saffar. This meeting was held to discuss ways to develop a supplementary English language curriculum specifically designed for medical students in the light of the nature of medical vocabulary and terminology and the basic language skills students need during their academic studies and clinical training.
In the meeting, was there an emphasis on the importance of the project in supporting students and enabling them to keep pace with global scientific and medical developments, which rely heavily on sources and research published in English. The committee explained that this curriculum contributes to preparing doctors who possess linguistic proficiency with academic and professional competence, which enhances the quality of medical education at the college.
