The Curriculum Committee at University of Alkafeel College of Medicine held its weekly meeting on Monday, 27 October 2025, chaired by Asst.Prof.Dr.. Hilal Bahjat Al-Saffar, and attended by the committee members, to trace the implementation of the work plan for curriculum development and improving the quality of medical education in line with national and international accreditation standards. The meeting discussed updates of academic accreditation requirements, particularly the third criterion of the accreditation standards on assessment processes. The focus was on improving assessment tools and measuring learning outcomes to ensure a high academic standard for students and enhance the efficiency of academic performance within the college.
During the meeting, the mechanisms for implementing the Placement Test for second-year students in English language skills were also discussed. The aim is to strengthen their language proficiency and ensure their readiness for English-based medical education, in coordination with the English Language Unit to establish the appropriate procedural and technical foundations for the test.
The meeting concluded with the preparation of a detailed report on the current assessment tools within the college and forming a specialized working group to review and develop assessment models to enhance the quality of student performance. An agreement was also tackled on the steps for implementing the Placement Test according to precise standards that meet the objectives of academic accreditation.
