Under the aegis of the University's Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Nawras Aldahan, the Faculty of Law held a workshop on "the Development of World System to Confront Climate Change: An Analytical Critical Study" on Sunday, November 13, 2022, presented by the Dean of the Faculty, Asst. Prof. Dr. Ahmed Al-Khafaji.
The workshop study and analysis dealt with the development of the World System to confront climate change, its effects, and the problems raised by the commitment of countries to implement the signed agreements.
This workshop gains its importance from the increasing effects of the climate crisis in the world, and from the international dimension in programs to confront the effects and repercussions of climate change, through international agreements and protocols in particular represented in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change of 1992, the Kyoto Protocol of 1997, and the Paris Agreement of 2015.
Also, he recommended the need to use modern technology, especially satellites, to measure global reduction rates of greenhouse gases, and to abandon or reduce the use of fossil fuels, rationalization of energy consumption, and other recommendations.
