The College of Medicine at University of Alkafeel organized an educational awareness lecture in cooperation with the Najaf Al-Ashraf Health Department, Medical Education, and Continuing Education, on Monday morning, 25/3/2024, coinciding with World Tuberculosis Day. The lecture was attended by the vice-rector scientific affairs, Asst. Prof. Dr. Nawal Ayed Al-Mayali, students, and faculty members. Dr. Basem Wajid Al-Adeli, Director of the Pulmonary and Respiratory Diseases Division, gave a comprehensive presentation on the epidemiology of tuberculosis and its prevention. Al-Adeli emphasized the importance of awareness about transmission methods and treatment of the disease, affirming that tuberculosis can be cured and prevented. On the margins of the workshop, first-year students in the college organized a student activity, dividing them into different groups. The activity aimed to build general awareness about the global epidemic of tuberculosis and the efforts made to eradicate this disease, through diagnosis, treatment, and public education. This initiative is a part of the university's efforts to enhance health awareness and contribute to reducing the spread of infectious diseases.
