The Governor of Najaf, Mr. Yousef Kanawi, stressed that the International Scientific Conference of University of Alkafeel reflects the vital role played by scientific research and higher education in building and developing society. Such came in his speech at the opening of the activities of the Sixth International Scientific Conference of University of Alkafeel , which witnessed the attendance of members of the Administrative Board of Holy Al-Abbas Shrine ,its cadres, officials from the holy shrines, professors of University of Alkafeel , a number of academic , official figures and researchers from inside and outside Iraq

    Mr.Kanawi pointed out that this conference represents an important platform that highlights the importance of education and scientific research in achieving sustainable developmentand stressed that the governorate has developed strategic plans to support this sector, including the short, medium and long term, targeting the promotion of scientific research, encouraging development projects, and supporting local universities.
He also explained that the plans include improving cooperation with universities to overcome the challenges facing educational institutions, supporting university professors, and forming an advisory body that form an elite group of professors to provide scientific advice. He added that the governorate aims to create job opportunities for graduates from Najaf by enhancing job opportunities in the public and private sectors, and encouraging investment to support the labor market. It is noteworthy that the conference is held with the participation of the Universities of Toledo and Michigan from the United States, in addition to Al-Ameed University and Al-Kafeel Specialized Hospital, with the aim of supporting scientific research and providing a stimulating environment for researchers.
