The Sixth International Scientific Conference of University of Alkafeel triggered the opening session in the presence of members of the Administration Board of Holy Al-Abbas Shrine and its officials, in addition to many official and academic figures and researchers from inside and outside Iraq.

    The opening session of the conference was chaired by Dr. Anis Khalil Nayel, Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Nahrain, and Dr. Zaid Al-Kadhimi, Director of Bone Marrow Transplantation and Cell Therapy at the University of Alabama, USA, lectured, and the session was convened by Dr. Siddiq Ghani al-Mahna.

    The session addressed a type of scientific research known as (translational research in medicine), where the spotlight was on the tools of basic sciences and how to understand treatment priorities, in addition to studying clinical challenges and how to solve them using these sciences.

   In his presentation, Dr. Al-Kadhimi explained the stages of development of scientific research, starting from basic research that discovers specific molecules or mechanisms in the body, to applying these discoveries to patients, where they are tested in the initial stages on animals and then expanded to include human trials. Moreover, the lecturer also discussed how to measure the effectiveness of treatments on humans using comparative experiments to determine the extent to which the treatment is able to achieve the desired goal.

    The conference is held with the participation of the Universities of Toledo and Michigan from the United States, Al-Ameed University and Al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital.

The conference aims to support the scientific and research movement and offer a stimulating environment for researchers, which enhances innovation and scientific research in various medical fields.
