The College of Technical Engineering, in line with the Lifelong Learning Program, organized a scientific lecture : "Sustainable Development: The Goal of Eradicating Poverty", presented by the Dean of the College, Asst.Prof.Dr. Ali Jassim Al-Amiri, on Monday 1/20/2025 at the college .

   The lecture addressed the concept of poverty as one of the prominent global challenges, focusing on its significant impact on the areas of health, education and social cohesion. The latest statistics were also reviewed, showing that more than 10% of the world population lives in extreme poverty, which threatens sustainable development.

    The lecture reviewed the importance of social protection systems and their role in combating poverty, highlighting Islamic solutions such as zakat, khums, social solidarity and charity, which are considered as effective tools for achieving social justice and poverty eradication .

Recommendations and Findings :

- Strengthening partnerships with internationaland local bodies to support poverty eradication initiatives.

- Developing academic and research programs that focus on sustainable solutions to poverty problems.

- Spreading awareness of the importance of social solidarity and its role in achieving development.

- Focusing on spreading the concepts of social protection as an effective means of alleviating poverty

- Supporting sustainable development strategies that ensure a balance between material and spiritual needs.

    Such a lecture falls within the remit of the efforts of the College of Technical Engineering to enhance community awareness about sustainable development issues and the role of each individual in combating poverty and achieving social justice.
