As part of University of Alkafeel to promote its ongoing efforts in the field of both sustainability and environmental protection, the College of Dentistry - Teaching Clinics, under the supervision of the Lifelong Learning Unit, organized a workshop : "Sustainable Dental Materials and Their Long-Term Benefits" on Monday, April 7, 2025.
The workshop, presented by Asst. Prof. Roaa Nima Muslim, addressed several topics : definition of sustainable dental materials and their importance in the medical field. It also highlighted the negative environmental impacts of using traditional materials and ways to replace them with environmentally friendly ones. The training program also included an explanation of the mechanisms for selecting and using these materials, which contributes to improving the quality of healthcare and reducing the environmental impact.
This workshop aims to raise environmental awareness among students and faculty by encouraging the reduction of plastic use and the adoption of sound international protocols for handling medical waste, contributing to a safer and more sustainable university environment.
This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities reflecting the commitment of the college to applying sustainable development concepts in medical education and practice.
