The Department of Medical Laboratory Technology in the College of Medical and Health Technology at University of Alkafeel organized a scientific workshop : "Work of Blood Bank," delivered by Asst. Prof. Ali Redha Abdul Amir on Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
The workshop aimed to highlight the latest developments of the blood bank. The workshop included an introductory introduction to the work of the blood bank, as well as a detailed scientific explanation of blood types and components. It also featured a demonstration of the application of advanced tests performed in the blood transfusion laboratory.
The workshop discussed the difference between the main and branch blood banks, clarified the differences in tests, and introduced participants to the processes of separating blood and its components. The importance of the uses of blood derivatives, the degree of preservation, and the shelf life of the product were also explained.
At the conclusion of the workshop, a set of recommendations were presented, most notably the emphasis on the need to use standard methods in blood banking operations to ensure the quality and safety of medical practices in this field.
