As part of a series of scientific activities organized by the Department of Computer Engineering Technology in the College of Engineering Technology at Alkafeel University, a scientific symposium : "General Regression Neural Network for Iris Recognition" was held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025. The symposium was presented by Asst. Prof. Shahd Ahmed Al-Sharifi, and attended by the College of Engineering Technology staff.

    The symposium aimed to develop the cognitive and research skills of academic staff in the field of artificial intelligence by highlighting the latest practical applications in biometric recognition technologies, particularly general regression neural networks (GRNNs). It also sought to enhance scientific interaction among researchers and stimulate the launch of future research projects in this advanced field.

    The symposium included a detailed explanation of the working mechanism of GRNNs and their effective role in iris recognition systems, focusing on their accuracy, processing speed, and the possibility of integrating them into modern security systems. The lecturer also addressed the most prominent research challenges facing this type of application and the prospects for its development in line with developments in artificial intelligence and future security needs.

   The symposium witnessed fruitful scientific interaction from the attendees, with numerous contributions and questions contributing to enriching the topic and fostering discussion about the potential of employing GRNN technologies in various environments, particularly in areas  of high accuracy in identity verification.

    Such an activity reflects the efforts of the departmentto develop the scientific and research capabilities of its teaching staff and provide the academic process with the latest knowledge in the field of smart technologies.
