Fifth Student Scientific Conference Launches at University of Alkafeel

Under the patronage of Prof.Dr. Nawras Mohammed Shaheed Al-Dahan, President of University of Alkafeel , and under the slogan "Scientific Research: Authenticity and Creativity," the Fifth Student Scientific Conference was launched at University of Alkafeel on Tuesday morning, April 15, 2025, with broad participation from a number of Iraqi public universities.

The opening session was attended by the University President, Prof.Dr. Nawras Mohammed Shaheed Al-Dahan; vice-chancellor for scientific affairs , Prof.Dr.Nawal Ayed Al-Mayali; and Asst. Prof. Dr. Haider Muhammad Imran, vice-chancellor for scientific affairs at the University of Karbala , a select group of academic figures, faculty members, and students from the participating universities.

The conference included broad representation from a number of Iraqi universities, including the following colleges:

University of Baghdad: College of Pharmacy

University of Kufa: Colleges of Pharmacy, Dentistry, and Law

University of Karbala: Colleges of Pharmacy and Dentistry

Jaber ibn Hayyan Medical University: College of Pharmacy

Al-Muthanna University: College of Law

University of Alkafeel : Colleges of Pharmacy, Dentistry, Health and Medical Technologies, Technical Engineering, and Law

The conference activities began with the recitation of ayats from Glorious Quran by Ali Al-Zaidi from the Holy Quran Institute of the Holy Al-Abbas Shrine in Najaf. Surat Al-Fatihah was then recited for the souls of Iraqi martyrs, then playing the national Iraqi anthem and the anthem of pride.

Asst.Prof. Ali Jassim Al-Amiri, Dean of the College of Technical Engineering, delivered a speech on behalf of University of Alkafeel , welcoming the distinguished guests : committee members , supervisors, and students. He praised the role of the conference in motivating students to submit applied scientific projects and emphasized the commitment of the university to its mission of promoting scientific research and serving the community.

In a statement, Prof.Dr. Nawras Mohammed Shaheed Al-Dahan, President of University of Alkafeel , explained that the university holds this conference annually to present and discuss graduation projects, and that the fifth version for the 2024-2025 academic year showed active participation from a number of public universities.

He referred that the conference aims to highlight the importance of the graduation project as a pivotal stage in the academic career of the student to encourage them to develop applicable scientific ideas that contribute to community service. He expressed his hope that this version will yield qualitative projects with a positive and practical impact.

Asst. Prof. Dr.Haider Muhammad Imran, Assistant President of the University of Karbala for Academic Affairs, expressed his admiration for University of Alkafeel during his first participation and emphasized his admiration at the advanced level of the university facilities. He explained that the participating delegation from the University of Karbala included a select group of professors and students from the Colleges of Pharmacy and Dentistry to contribute to the presentation of the graduation research projects for this year . He emphasized that such conferences represent an important platform for consolidating scientific research and preparing students well for the next stage, particularly postgraduate studies.

The conference will run for two days, Tuesday and Wednesday, April 15-16, 2025. A large number of outstanding graduation projects in medical, engineering, and legal specialties will be presented, reflecting the commitment of the university of Alkafeel to supporting student abilities and developing their academic capabilities.

The conference is part of the strategic direction of the university toward building a knowledgeable academic generation capable of effectively contributing to community development and advancing the scientific and service levels in Iraq.
