University of Alkafeel Holds Workshop on Quality Management Specifications in Healthcare

Under the patronage of Prof.Dr.Nawras Mohammed Shaheed Al-Dahan , President of University of Alkafeel , the College of Medicine organized a scientific workshop : "Quality Management Specifications and Their Applications to Healthcare – ISO 7101:2023" on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Prof. Dr. Khalil Ibrahim Mahmoud lectured in the presence of the university president, deans of colleges, a number of faculty and administrative staff, and healthcare specialists.

The workshop showed broad engagement from the attendees, as it addressed the international standard ISO 7101:2023, one of the first international standards specialized in quality management in healthcare institutions, replacing the previous standard ISO 9001. Comprehensive details were included regarding the provisions, objectives, and areas of application.

International accreditation standards, such as the Joint Commission International (JCI), and the international and Arab institutions concerned with quality accreditation in healthcare institutions were also discussed. The workshop witnessed in-depth scientific discussions, during which participants exchanged views and ideas on mechanisms for implementing the standard, which would improve the quality of healthcare services provided.

Representatives from Al-Ameed University and Al-Kafeel Specialist Hospital attended the workshop, reflecting their commitment of the institution todeveloping healthcare performance in accordance with international standards.

The lecturer Prof.Khalil Ibrahim Mahmoud expressed his thanks and gratitude to University of Alkafeel for this pioneering initiative, appreciating its commitment to applying quality concepts in the healthcare sector. He emphasized the importance of the workshop in enhancing the awareness of workers in this sector of international standards, which have a direct impact on raising the level of satisfaction of patients and relevant institutions. He also noted that the workshop paves the way for a series of future events that will contribute to the practical application of these concepts within healthcare institutions.
