Lifelong Learning Unit at the College of Dentistry at Alkafeel University organized a lecture : "PET Scan" on Tuesday, April 29, 2025. The lecture was delivered by Asst. Prof.Sarmad Muhammad Abdul Zahra, and was attended by a number of faculty members and affiliates.
The lecture highlighted the PET (positron emission tomography) scan : its mechanism of action and its advanced medical uses, particularly in the field of early tumor detection. The lecturer also addressed ways to prevent potential radiation hazards during imaging procedures and the importance of following preventive and occupational safety measures in this context.
In the session, the lecturer emphasized the pivotal role the basic sciences play in understanding physiological interactions in the body and their significant impact on improving diagnostic accuracy and determining the prevalence of cancer.
Such a lecture is part of a series of scientific activities implemented by the college to develop the cognitive capabilities of academic and administrative staff and its ongoing commitment to keeping abreast of developments in modern medical technologies.
