As part of its efforts to enhance the academic level and widen the scope of international scientific expertise, the President of Alkafeel University, Prof. Dr. Nawras Mohammed Shaheed Al-Dahan, received the consultant hematologist Dr. Mohsen Al-Gharafi on Monday, August 18, 2025. The meeting was attended by the vice-chancellor for academic affairs , Prof. Dr. Nawal Ayed Al-Mayali, and the Dean of the College of Medicine, Asst. Prof. Dr. Samer Al-Hakak.

    Dr. Al-Gharafi is a prominent figure in the global medical arena, serving as Head of the Hematology Department at North West London University Hospital, a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians (FRCP) in London, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists (FRCPath), specializing in Hematology. He also holds a prominent academic position as a senior lecturer at Imperial College London, one of the world's most prestigious medical and educational institutions.

     This visit aimed to gain a firsthand insight into the academic and scientific level of the College of Medicine at University of Alkafeel and its significant steps in developing curricula, teaching methods, and scientific research. Moreover, it targets to survey the prospects for joint collaboration between the university and international academic institutions, which would contribute to serving Iraqi students and providing them with the latest expertise and knowledge that keep pace with the rapid global scientific developments.

     Prof. Dr. Al-Dahan cordially welcomed the visit and mentioned that it is of a great importance to buttress the progress in the university and solidify its academic presence locally and internationally. Then he laid emphasis on the fact that University of Alkafeel is constantly working to build bridges of communication with reputable international research centers and universities, and such reflects its commitment to an ambitious future vision to prepare a generation of doctors and researchers who take hold of the ability to compete, innovate, and serve their country at the highest academic and professional levels.
