The Department of Artificial Intelligence at the College of Science, University of Alkafeel , held a workshop titled "Artificial Intelligence in Vehicular Ad Hoc Networks (VANETs)" on Sunday, November 16, 2025. The workshop was presented by Asst. Lect. Fatima Tahseen Ali.
The workshop addressed the role of artificial intelligence technologies in vehicle ad hoc networks, explaining how these networks operate and the role of Roadside Units (RSUs) as communication intermediaries between vehicles and infrastructure. There was a demonstration of how artificial intelligence techniques such as machine learning, deep learning, and reinforcement learning can be used to predict traffic congestion, improve routing, enhance security, and detect attacks. Furthermore, the workshop reviewed the future advantages and limitations of these networks and the latest trends in integrating VANETs with 5G technologies, edge computing, and collaborative AI systems.
The workshop aims to empower participants to understand how artificial intelligence (AI) can be employed in vehicle networks to enhance the efficiency and safety of intelligent traffic systems. It will also introduce them to the latest applications in congestion prediction, improved routing, enhanced cybersecurity, attack detection, and explore future trends in this field.
