The College of Dentistry at University of Alkafeel organized a lecture on the clinical differences between light-cured and in-visit restorations, and the mechanisms for selecting the most suitable type.
The lecture was presented by Asst. Lect. Ali Falah Hassan, who reviewed the scientific and clinical principles , necessary to be considered when choosing the type of restoration. He explained the criteria related to tooth structure, preparation size, type of fracture or decay, and the location of the tooth and its direct impact on determining the type of restoration to ensure reliable results.
The lecturer presented a comprehensive professional comparison between the advantages and disadvantages of light-cured and in-vitro restorations, highlighting cases that require advanced treatment solutions to ensure a longer restoration lifespan and maintain tooth function.
The lecture concluded with a set of recommendations : adoption of a comprehensive clinical evaluation before selecting a restoration, encouraging students to keep up with the latest developments in dental materials science, and preparing a guide for use in teaching clinics to help make optimal treatment decisions.
