The College of Pharmacy, in cooperation with the Women Affairs Section at University of Alkafeel , organized a workshop : “Legal Guarantees and Institutional Policies for Promoting Women Leadership Diversity and Their Impact on Achieving Institutional Excellence.” The workshop was ,by Asst. Lect. Wiam Mahdi Saleh Al-Jilawi on Tuesday, 28 January 2026.
The workshop aimed to highlight the challenges hindering the advancement of women in decision-making positions, demonstrate their leadership qualities, and explore the role of legal frameworks and institutional policies in promoting leadership diversity, improving institutional performance, and achieving excellence in higher education.
The workshop addressed the female representation gap in academic leadership positions, reviewing legislative, structural, and cultural obstacles. It focused on the role of transformational and democratic leadership styles in improving academic decision-making and enhancing performance efficiency, emphasizing the importance of legitimizing the transparency and empowering female leaders to ensure institutional justice.
The recommendations stress that institutional excellence be linked to the effectiveness of legal guarantees supporting leadership diversity , making awareness workshops on unconscious bias mandatory for leadership selection committees, implementing the transparency and accountability, ensuring the female representation, and establishing an equal opportunities unit directly under the university president to monitor the implementation of supportive policies.
