Under the patronage of the President of University of Alkafeel , Prof.Dr. Nawras Muhammed Shaheed Al-Dahan , the College of Medicine, Lifelong Learning Unit held a specialized scientific workshop : "How to Perform Complex Gallbladder Surgery" on Wednesday, 18 February 2026.
The workshop was presented by Dr. Abdul Zahra Abdul Samad Al-Asadi, Consultant General and Laparoscopic Surgeon at Homerton University Hospital, London. He discussed the latest surgical methods and techniques for performing complex gallbladder surgeries, focusing on minimizing bile duct injuries and enhancing surgical safety for patients. Dr. Al-Asadi explained that the workshop aimed to introduce students and physicians to the latest developments in the field and to transfer global expertise to medical professionals in Iraq, thereby contributing to improved clinical performance and enhanced healthcare services.
The workshop witnessed a large turnout of medical students and a number of physicians and specialists who actively engaged with its scientific themes and the specialized discussions presented. This workshop is part of a series of scientific activities organized by University of Alkafeel , reflecting its commitment to strengthening the practical aspects of medical training and providing a comprehensive educational environment that contributes to preparing qualified medical professionals according to the latest international standards.
