The Department of Psychological Guidance and Educational Orientation at University of Alkafeel , in cooperation with the College of Engineering Technology, organized an orientation lecture : “Tools of Western Colonialism,” presented by Counsl. Kawthar Alawi Kamel, on Saturday,21 February 2026.
The lecture addressed the concept of Western colonialism as an integrated system that is not limited to military occupation but relies on multiple tools that permeate thought, culture, economy, and media. It highlighted the most prominent of these tools : cultural hegemony, economic control, media influence, and the reshaping of collective consciousness, explaining their indirect mechanisms for creating dependency and weakening identity.
The lecture aimed to enhance the critical awareness of the students and enable them to deeply analyze reality and understand the methods of influence that may be exerted on them indirectly, thus contributing to building a conscious university personality capable of analysis and critique.
