Based on the cultural and intellectual role played by the Holy Abbas Shrine in consolidating authentic Islamic identity and spreading a culture of knowledge among young people, a cultural initiative was launched by His Eminence Seid. Ahmad al-Safi (may Allah  protect him), the Custodian of the Holy Abbas Shrine, to encourage students to read and delve into the teachings of the Ahlalbayt (peace be upon them) and the noble Islamic values. This initiative underscores the importance of building a conscious and cultured generation with sound knowledge and enlightened thought.

 This initiative culminated in the first annual Grand Cultural Competition for Reading, organized by the Holy Abbas Shrine. The competition, held on 14 February, saw active participation of Alkafeel University students  and Al-Ameed University, and witnessed their engagement in reading and intellectual exploration.

In this context, Al-Kafeel University held an award ceremony for the winning students in this competition. The ceremony was attended by the University President, Prof. Dr. Nawras Muhammed Shaheed Al-Dahan, and the Vice-Chancellor for Scientific Affairs, Prof.Dr. Nawal Ayed Al-Mayali, the deans of the colleges, their assistants, and a number of faculty members. The event took place on Saturday, 7 March 2026, corresponding to the 17th of Ramadan.

The ceremony honored the winning students in the first annual major cultural competition for reading and research, recognizing their academic and cultural excellence and encouraging them to continue their intellectual pursuits. This initiative aims to promote a culture of reading and research among students and contribute to the development of their scientific and intellectual awareness.
