The College of Dentistry Council at University of Alkafeel held an administrative and academic meeting, chaired by the Dean, Asst.Prof. Dr. Karim Maktoof Attia Al-Ghanim, and attended by the Vice-Dean for Scientific Affairs, Asst.Prof. Dr. Muhammad Hassan Abdul-Shahid, and council members, on Tuesday, 31 March 2026, to discuss the current state of e-learning and its development prospects. The meeting addressed the key advantages of e-learning : learning flexibility, enhanced self-directed learning, and the use of interactive tools. It also discussed the challenges facing its implementation, such as varying levels of student readiness, weak internet connectivity, and the need to develop content suitable for the nature of medical specialties.
The council emphasized the importance of adopting blended learning as a strategic option that combines e-learning for theoretical subjects with in-person instruction for practical applications, thereby contributing to improved educational outcomes.
The meeting concluded with several recommendations : developing the technological infrastructure, establishing training workshops for faculty and students, improving internet services, and adopting modern assessment mechanisms that combine e-learning and in-person learning, along with periodic evaluations to ensure the effectiveness of the educational experience.
