The Department of Psychological Guidance and Educational Orientation at University of Alkafeel , in cooperation with the Colleges of Pharmacy and Dentistry, organized two awareness and guidance lectures for first-year students on Saturday, 4 April 2026. The lectures addressed important behavioral and psychological issues affecting young people.
The first lecture, "Psychological and Social Distance from Drug Use," was presented by Asst.Lect. Haider Adnan Ghazi Shabaa from the College of Pharmacy. It aimed to highlight the serious psychological and social effects of drug use and its negative repercussions on the individual, family, and society, while emphasizing the importance of self-awareness and promoting sound behavioral values to prevent this phenomenon.
The second lecture, presented by Asst.Lect. Kawthar Kadhim Awda at the College of Dentistry, addressed the topic of "Defiance : Its Causes and Treatment." It aimed to introduce students to the concept of Defiance and its various causes, and to develop their awareness of healthy coping mechanisms for psychological and social pressures, thereby enhancing their ability to make mature decisions and cultivate positive behaviors based on dialogue and conscious thinking.
The lecture emphasized the importance of psychological orientation in reducing negative behavioral phenomena and promoting a culture of understanding and positive communication among young people, contributing to the development of well-rounded students capable of building their future and serving their community.
