The Lifelong Learning Center at University of Alkafeel organized a scientific lecture : "Climate Change," delivered by Asst. Lect. Ali Abdul Jalil Naji, Head of the Agriculture Section at the university. The lecture, held on Monday, 6 April 2026, was attended by a number of students and those who ae interested in environmental issues as part of the activities of the Second University Sustainability Week.
The lecture addressed the thirteenth Sustainable Development Goal, which focuses on climate action. It highlighted the most prominent risks of climate change and its negative repercussions on human life and the planet, including rising temperatures, increasing extreme weather events, and their impact on natural resources and food security.
The lecture also discussed methods of adapting to climate change and ways to mitigate its effects through the adoption of sustainable practices, such as rationalizing resource consumption and relying on renewable energy sources, and enhancing environmental awareness among individuals and society. Finally , the lecturer emphasized that the Islamic faith encourages the principles of sustainability and environmental preservation by calling for avoiding extravagance, developing the land, and achieving balance in resource utilization.
