As part of the activities of the Second Sustainability Week and in its commitment to raising awareness of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the College of Pharmacy at  University of Alkafeel organized a scientific seminar : “Impact of Vaping and Cigarette Smoking on Hematological and Pulmonary Health Among University Students”. The seminar was held on Tuesday, 7 April2026, and was attended by a select group of faculty members.

     The seminar included a lecture by Prof.Dr. Ahmed Hashim Hussein, who addressed the concept of sustainable development in the pharmaceutical sector and its importance in achieving a balance between scientific progress, resource conservation, and ensuring public health. He also reviewed mechanisms for implementing sustainability principles in the pharmaceutical industry, starting with the development of pharmaceutical preparations, moving through the rational use of resources, and ending with reducing the environmental impact of pharmaceutical products.

     He pointed to the pivotal role of universities, especially colleges of pharmacy, in supporting sustainable development paths through rigorous scientific research and preparing qualified personnel with environmental and professional awareness, as well as strengthening partnerships with the community to provide sustainable health solutions that contribute to improving the quality of life.

     Suich an event reflects the commitment of the Uni9versity of Alkafeel to its academic and community role and its ongoing efforts to keep pace with global trends in achieving comprehensive and sustainable development in the fields of pharmaceutical sciences and community service.
