The Agriculture Section at University of Alkafeel conducted a scientific experiment to produce various types of leafy vegetables unavailable locally using a hydroponic system. This initiative is part of the efforts the university does to develop plant production, utilize resources, and adopt modern technologies. The head of the Agricultural Section , Asst.Lect. Ali Abdul Jalil Naji, explained that this experiment contributes to enhancing water use efficiency and achieving rapid and uniform plant growth. He noted that hydroponics is a modern technology that significantly reduces water consumption.
He added that this system represents a promising solution to address the challenges of water scarcity and soil degradation, particularly in arid and semi-arid regions, with the potential for future expansion to support local production and enhance food security. For the initiative aligns with the directives of the University of Al-Kafeel presidency to support applied projects and adopt modern technologies to achieve sustainable development goals.
