The College of Medicine at University of Alkafeel organized a scientific and educational workshop for freshman students : "Carpal Tunnel Syndrome." The workshop was presented by Dr. Iman Yaqoub, a specialist in obstetrics and gynecology, and Dr. Haider Abdul-Zahra Jabbar, a specialist in general surgery, on Monday, 20 April 2026.
The workshop aimed to introduce students to carpal tunnel syndrome in its early stages, explaining its causes and contributing factors, as well as clarifying initial symptoms and methods of early diagnosis. This contributed to enhancing their clinical skills and bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application.
The workshop included a scientific explanation of the mechanism of compression of the median nerve in the wrist and the accompanying symptoms : numbness and loss of sensation. It also reviewed methods of early diagnosis and initial treatments, presenting practical clinical cases that helped solidify their understanding of the subject.
As recommended , the workshop emphasized the importance of early diagnosis to avoid complications and the necessity of enhancing practical training in clinical examination. It also encouraged students to follow similar cases during their training and to conduct similar scientific workshops to contribute to developing their medical skills.
