The College of Medicine at University of Alkafeel held a scientific workshop : “Capillary Action and Its Role in Human Body,” presented by Asst. Lect. Hajran Qais Faris on Wednesday, 6 May 2026. The workshop aimed to clarify the concept of capillary action and its importance in the human body, and to enhance the scientific understanding and its role in microcirculation.
The workshop included a simplified explanation of capillary action as a physical phenomenon in which fluids move through narrow spaces without the need for external force, relying on surface tension and adhesive forces. It also highlighted its vital role within the human body, particularly in capillaries, where it contributes to facilitating efficient blood flow, thus supporting the exchange of nutrients and oxygen in tissues.
The workshop featured several recommendations : strengthening the link between physical concepts and biomedical applications, developing the scientific understanding of the body's intricate functions, encouraging the students to study physical phenomena related to medical sciences, and supporting scientific activities that contribute to simplifying basic medical concepts.
