The College of Medicine at University of Alkafeel organized an awareness lecture : “Raising Awareness of Dangers of Drugs and Their Health and Social Effects,” presented by Amir Taqi Sadiq Zaini on Saturday, 9 May 2026. The lecture aimed to raise the health and social awareness of the student of the dangers of drugs and their negative effects on individuals and society.
The lecture addressed the phenomenon of drug abuse as one of the most prominent health, social, and security challenges in Iraq, highlighting the reasons for its spread, its psychological and neurological effects, and its social and health complications : addiction, family disintegration, and increased crime rates.
The lecture emphasized the importance of strengthening health awareness programs in educational institutions, supporting treatment and rehabilitation services, and activating cooperation between health, security, and educational authorities to reduce the spread of this phenomenon and protect young people from the dangers of addiction.
