On Wednesday, 17 June 2026, the Department of University Psychological Guidance at University of Alkafeel held its annual commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) on the day of Ashura, recalling his suffering and the enduring principles of his uprising.
The gathering began with a recitation of ayats from Glorious Quran by reciter Ali Al-Zubaidi from the Institute of the Holy Quran affiliated with the Holy Abbas Shrine.
The gathering included a religious lecture delivered by His Eminence Seid. Hassan Al-Baaj, who discussed the lessons and wisdom gleaned from the uprising of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him). He emphasized that the Battle of Karbala represents a comprehensive school of patience, steadfastness, reform, and confronting deviation, and that Imam Hussein (peace be upon him) offered the ultimate sacrifice for the sake of reviving the values of religion and reforming the nation.
He also emphasized the importance of applying these principles to contemporary life by fostering religious awareness, strengthening community unity, and avoiding division and deviation from authentic values. He stressed that the message of Ashura is not limited to emotional expression but extends to serving as a methodology for reform and the development of conscious individuals.
Such an event is part of the annual program of the University of Alkafeel to commemorate the these great days and occasions of the Ahlalbayt (peace be upon them) and to instill religious and moral values among students and university staff.
