The Department of Medical Laboratory Technologies at the College of Medical and Health Technologies, University of Alkafeel , organized a scientific lecture : “Single Nucleotide Polymorphisms (SNPs).” The lecture was presented by Asst.Lect. Amir Haider Razzaq on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, and was attended by a number of faculty members.
The lecture addressed the concept of single nucleotide polymorphisms and their importance in human genetics, their role in causing genetic diversity among individuals, and their relationship to genetic and multifactorial diseases. It also reviewed their applications to the molecular diagnostics, personalized medicine, and modern genomic studies.
Some scientific discussions were managed that contributed to enhancing the knowledge of the participants in the genetic markers and modern techniques used in analyzing genetic variations. Emphasis was placed on the importance of utilizing these studies in academic research and keeping pace with the rapid developments in the fields of molecular genetics and precision medicine.
