On Wednesday, 22 July 2026, University of Alkafeel  commemorated the martyrdom of Imam Hassan al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him) with an annual mourning ceremony organized by the Psychological Guidance and Educational Orientation Department. The ceremony was attended by the University President, Prof.Dr. Nawras Muhammed Shaheed al-Dahhan, deans of colleges and their deputies, as well as a number of university staff members.

The gathering began with a blessed recitation of ayats from Glorious Quran by Sheikh. Mahdi Qalandar from the Glorious Quran Institute in Najaf, pertinent to the Scientific Complex for Glorious Quran at the Holy Al-Abbas Shrine. The recitation created a spiritual and faith-filled atmosphere befitting the occasion and prepared those present to reflect on the blessed life of Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him).

Sayyid Jaafar al-Muruj then delivered a religious lecture, reviewing key moments in the life of Imam Hasan al-Mujtaba (peace be upon him). He discussed his wisdom, forbearance, and patience, as well as the injustice and persecution he endured, culminating in his martyrdom. He also highlighted the most important lessons and insights to be gained from his noble life, emphasizing his exalted status as the grandson of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) and the master of the youth of Paradise.

The mourning session witnessed a strong academic and administrative presence, reflecting the commitment of the university to commemorating religious occasions. This underscores its role in instilling authentic Islamic values, deepening the connection to the lives of the Ahlalbayt (peace be upon them), and enhancing religious and cultural awareness among its students and staff, in line with its academic and educational mission.
