On Tuesday, 11 August 2026, University of Alkafeel  commemorated the martyrdom anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) by holding a mourning ceremony in the main events hall at the university. The ceremony was attended by the university president, Prof.Dr. Nawras Muhammed Shaheed Al-Dahhan, several deans, faculty members, and staff.

    The ceremony began with a recitation of certain ayats from Glorious Quran by Sheikh. Mahdi Qalandar. Following the recitation, Seid. Jaafar Al-Muruj addressed the gathering, commemorating the occasion and recalling the life of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) and his role in spreading the message of Islam and establishing its principles.

    In his sermon, the speaker addressed several religious and educational themes, emphasizing the importance of easing the burden on those in financial difficulty and granting debtors time to repay. He also highlighted the virtues of charity and mutual support in strengthening compassion and mercy in the community.

    He also addressed the importance of repentance and seeking forgiveness, reviewing several examples from Islamic history and the lives of the Ahlalbayt (peace be upon them), which embody the values of altruism, tolerance, and kindness to others. He emphasized the necessity of fulfilling financial obligations and warned against denying or evading debts.

The gathering concluded with the recitation of elegies and a commemoration of the tragedy of the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), prayers for Allah the Almighty to protect Iraq and its people, and supplications for mercy upon the martyrs of Iraq, asking Him to keep them in His vast mercy and to shield Iraq and its people from all harm.
