Under the patronage of the esteemed Chancellor of Al-Kafeel University, Prof. Dr. Nawras M. Al-Dahan, the College of Dentistry at Al-Kafeel University held a seminar entitled “The role of pseudomonas aeruginosa in hospitalized infection” which was presented by Mr. Ali M. Abdul-Hadi on the 4th of June 2022, in the presence of the teaching staff and faculty members.
The role of bacteria (P. aurginosa) in increasing infections of hospitalized patients, especially those who suffer from chronic diseases that cause a compropised immune system was explained.
The seminar also tackled the role of the bacteria (P. aurginosa) in hospital infections, identifying the most prominent properties of bacteria and the virulence factors that cause multiple infections inside the body like the burn injuries, acute urinary tract infection, pneumonia and others, and how to resist antibiotics. The lecturer also referred to the need to preserve personal hygiene and continuous fumigation of surgical instruments used in surgical operations, the giving and pulmonary respiration devices for the bedridden patients. Also, he referred to the need of avoiding taking antibiotics indiscriminately, and adhering to the directions of specialist doctors, due to the high level of antibiotic resistance shown by (P. aerginosa).
