On Monday, 11 November 2024, the College of Pharmacy at University of Alkafeel organized a seminar : "Oestrus Ovis" in Al-Balagi Hall, as part of its scientific activities to deepen understanding of parasites and their impact on animal and human health.
The activity was presented by Asst.Lect. Amir Abdul Hussein Abdul Abbas, who addressed the topic of the parasitic insect " Oestrus Ovis ", which is considered one of the parasites that infect sheep and directly affect their health. He also talked about the factors affecting its spread and possible solutions to mitigate its harm.
The discussion focused on how this parasite affects animal health, and the medical aspect related to diseases transmitted between animals and humans was also addressed. The lecturer discussed the symptoms and clinical signs that may appear on humans as a result of exposure to these parasite, the types of parasites that cause myiasis, which is a disease that can be transmitted from animals to humans.
It was quite evident that there was a great interaction from the audience, as many questions and inquiries related to the topic were raised, reflecting the importance of these topics in enhancing medical and scientific knowledge between students.
Through these activities, the College of Pharmacy aims to enhance scientific and research awareness between the students and those interested in the field of veterinary medicine and parasitology.
