College of Medicine at University of Alkafeel Holds Specialized Course on Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation in Collaboration with American Heart Association

Under the patronage of the President of University of Alkafeel , Prof. Dr. Nawras Muhammed Shaheed Al-Dahan, and in collaboration with the American Heart Association (AHA), the College of Medicine at University of Alkafeel  held a specialized training course in basic and advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). The course, which included the Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) programs, took place on Sunday and Monday, February 1-2, 2026.

     The course aimed to develop the clinical skills of medical students and graduates and enhance their competence in dealing with emergency and critical cases, particularly sudden cardiac arrest and cardiac arrhythmias in emergency and cardiac care departments. The course lectures were delivered by:

Dr. Imran Imam, Emergency Medicine Specialist, Los Angeles, California, USA.

Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Al-Dhabawi, Cardiology Specialist, College of Medicine, University of Alkafeel .

    The course embraced a high participation from fourth-year medical students at University of Alkafeel , and hosted approximately fifty physicians who graduated from the College of Medicine at the University of Kufa, as part of supporting continuing medical education and enhancing the professional readiness of physicians. In the course, the lecturers emphasized the importance of being familiar with the latest internationally recognized protocols for cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). They highlighted the significant advancements in emergency medicine in recent years and the consequent need for intensive practical training that keeps pace with scientific developments, thereby contributing to improved healthcare and saving lives.

     Such a course falls in a series of training programs the University of Alkafeel  is keen to organize in support of its academic and medical mission and to strengthen its role in serving the community and the healthcare sector.
