The Psychological Guidance and Educational Orientationm at the University of Alkafeel organized a memorial service on Wednesday, September 11, 2024, to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him). The event was attended by Prof. Dr. Nawras Mohammed Shaheed Al-Dahan, rector of the University, deans, their deputies, and university staff.

The mourning session began with a recitation of someverses from Holy Quran by the reciter Sayyid Ahmed Al-Zamili from the Quran Institute affiliated with theHoly Al-Abbas Shrine in Najaf. This was followed by a speech delivered by Sayyid Jaafar Al-Murawwij, who highlighted aspects of the life of Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him), emphasizing his role in preserving the teachings of Islam and his challenges with the unjust rulers of his time.

    Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him), the eleventh Imam of the Ahl al-Bayt (peace be upon them), assumed the Imamate during a period of severe political pressure and persecution by the Abbasid rulers.

Though having all kinds of   unrest , he managed to disseminate Islamic teachings and protect the Muslim community from deviation, using his wisdom and prudence in dealing with tyranny and oppression.

    Imam Hasan al-Askari (peace be upon him) endured repeated persecution and imprisonment by the Abbasid rulers, who feared his significant influence over the Muslim community. He lived under strict surveillance in the city of Samarra, but he still managed to communicate with his followers and spread religious knowledge.

    Ultimately, the tyrants poisoned and killed him (peace be upon him) in the year 260 AH, ending a life devoted to service and loyalty to Islam, which caused deep grief among his followers and admirers.

    The mourning service included Hussaini elegies expressing the profound sorrow of this painful occasion and concluded with prayers for the  reappearance of Imam al-Mahdi (may Allah hasten his reappearance) to support the oppressed and establish a state of justice.
