On Sunday, November 3, 2024, the Department of Medical Laboratory Technology at the College of Medical and Health Technology at University of Alkafeel organized a scientific symposium: "Impact of Vitamin D Deficiency on the Liver" by Prof. Dr. Hussein Abdullah Al-Bekaa. In the symposium there was a focus on aimed to highlight the importance of vitamin D and its sources, in addition to the negative effects resulting from its deficiency. Dr. Al-Bekaa explained that vitamin D deficiency can lead to harmful effects on the health of the liver and other body systems, which emphasizes the need to monitor the levels of this vitamin.
Dr. Al-Bekaa tackled the potential damage resulting from vitamin D deficiency, noting that its deficiency causes a wide imbalance in the performance of various body functions. The symposium also discussed how to enhance vitamin D levels through exposure to sunlight at appropriate times. At the end , the importance of awareness of vitamin D sources and the need for periodic examination of its levels in the body were emphasized.
