On Wednesday 6/11/2024, the College of Pharmacy at University of Alkafeel organized a scientific seminar : "Hyperuricemia". The lecture was presented by Asst. Lect.Murtadha Adnan Muhais, who reviewed all aspects of the topic in a simplified scientific manner.

    The session aimed to introduce the attendees to uric acid, a substance produced by the body when it breaks down purine compounds, and is usually disposed of through the kidneys. The session also addressed the possible causes of high levels of uric acid in the blood, which may lead to many health problems such as gout and kidney stones.  The lecturer discussed the causes that lead to increased levels of uric acid in the body, such as genetic factors, poor nutrition, and some chronic diseases.

    The lecturer reviewed the negative effects of this increase on the body, including causing joint inflammation and the formation of kidney stones , a simplified overview of treatment methods for high uric acid , touching on medications and nutritional treatments that contribute to regulating its levels in the blood. This discussion panel comes within the framework of the College of Pharmacy's efforts to enhance medical awareness between students and the academic community about public health issues, especially those related to common diseases such as high uric acid, which affect many individuals in society. The panel also contributes to highlighting the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of these conditions.
