International Workshop at University of Alkafeel to Develop Intensive Care in Iraq

Under the patronage of the University of Alkafeel chancellor , Prof. Dr. Nawras Mohammed Shaheed Al-Dahan, the College of Medicine in collaboration with Al-Kafeel Specialized Hospital and the United Iraqi Medical Association in the United Kingdom and Ireland, organized a workshop : "Intensive Care Medicine: Evidence-Based Practice Workshop" , On Monday, 9/12/2024.

   The workshop will last for two days and address ways to improve and develop intensive care services in Iraq through the exchange of experiences between international and local medical cadres. The first day of the workshop was held at University of Alkafeel , while the second day will be held at Al-Kafeel Specialized Hospital.

    The workshop was attended by a distinguished audience : Prof. Dr. Nawras Mohammed Shaheed Al-Dahan, chancellor of University of Alkafeel , Dr. Jassim Al-Ibrahimi, Director of Al-Kafeel Specialized Hospital, Dr. Mufid Abu Ghanim, vice-director General of the Najaf Health Department, a number of doctors and specialists in the fields of anesthesia, intensive care and emergency medicine and a number of participants from outside and inside Iraq.

    The workshop, in which international experts participated, aims to improve performance in intensive care departments through training on evidence-based medical practices. This workshop is part of a series of activities through which University of Alkafeel aims to raise the level of health services in the country.

    In a statement, Prof. Dr. Hilal Al-Saffar, Advisor to the chancellor of the University for Medical Education Affairs, stressed that University of Alkafeel always seeks to improve the level of medical education and health services in Iraq, and that this workshop represents an important step in achieving this goal. He added that collaboration with international experts in the field of intensive care reflects the commitment of the university to developing local medical cadres through the exchange of knowledge and modern practices.

He pointed out that the workshop contributes significantly to raising the level of medical performance in Iraqi hospitals, especially in intensive care units, ensuring the provision of better health care to citizens.

     In a statement by the chairman of the Unified Iraqi Medical Association in the United Kingdom and Ireland, Dr. Rafid Aziz, he stressed that this workshop represents an important step towards developing intensive care wards in Iraq, through collaboration between international and local doctors to improve the quality of medical services in Iraqi hospitals.
