The College of Pharmacy at University of Alkafeel organized an awareness seminar : “Electronic Addiction” on Monday, 12/16/2024. It was delivered by Asst.Prof.Dr. Dr. Muhammad Mohsen Al-Rafayai. The activity was held in Al-Balaghy Halland attended by a number of faculty members.
The seminar addressed the phenomenon of electronic addiction, which is one of the modern challenges affecting various segments of society, especially youth and children. Dr. Al-Rafayai reviewed the definition of electronic addiction and its various forms, highlighting the concept of "nomophobia", which is the excessive fear of losing a mobile phone or not being able to access it.
The most prominent topics discussed during the seminar:
-Psychological and behavioral effects resulting from excessive use of technology.
-Impact of electronic addiction on academic achievement and public health.
-Strategies to reduce the phenomenon and methods of conscious use of technology.
Dr. Al-Rafayai stressed that excessive use of electronic devices may lead to negative consequences on mental and physical health, such as anxiety, poor concentration, and sleep disorders. The seminar concluded with recommendations on the importance of achieving a balance between the use of technology and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
The seminar received positive interaction from the attendees, as there were many questions , which contributed to raising awareness of the importance of this issue and its impact on society.
