Prof.Dr. Nawras Mohammed Shaheed Al-Dahan , University of Alkafeel chancellor stated that the university gained an important score in being second in the private universitiesgroup and eighth domestically in the UI Green Metric 2024 ranking, which included 81 private and governmental Iraqi universities.

The UI Green Metric ranking is one of the most prominent global rankings, as it is based on evaluating universities based on environmental sustainability and sustainable development standards. The edition of this year showed the participation of 1,477 universities from 95 countries around the world, all of which competed to provide distinguished performance in the environmental and academic fields.

The classification focuses on six main axes to evaluate performance : 

Setting and Infrastructure (SI) (15%)

Energy and Climate Change (EC) (21%)

Waste (WS) (18%)

Water (WR) (10%)

Education and Research (ED) (18%)

Transportation (TR) (18%)

    In a statement to the university media, Prof.Dr. NawrasMohammed Shaheed Al-Dahan explained that such a ranking highlights the efforts of the university to achieve the sustainable development inside and outside the campus. He added that University of Alkafeel always seeks to provide a role model in environmental practices and academic development. Then he extended his thanks and appreciation to all the scientific, administrative and service cadres at the university who contributed to this achievement, stressing the continuation of work to gain more successes that solidify the position of the university at the international and domestic levels.

   Dr. Al-Dahan concluded his statement by praising the great support provided by the General Secretariat of the Holy Al-Abbas Shrine, which played a prominent role in having this achievement and the university is to continue to achieve its vision for having a distinguished academic institution that contributes to obtaining sustainable development goals locally and globally.

   This achievement is listed in the rich historical record of the university of Alkafeel and shows its commitment to providing the best in the fields of education, research and environmental sustainability.
