As part of its efforts to promote sustainable environmental medical practices, the College of Dentistry at University of Alkafeel organized a scientific lecture : "Waste Management in Orthodontics: A Greener Approach." The lecture was delivered by Asst. Prof. Amir Yousef Abdullah on Tuesday, March 11, 2025, at the teaching clinics of the college.
The lecture aimed to shed light on the concept of medical waste in orthodontic clinics, methods for classifying it, and the resulting environmental and health risks, and the importance of applying modern environmental management methods. It also addressed the role of academic institutions in raising awareness of the importance of proper medical waste disposal and promoting environmentally friendly practices in the medical field.
In conclusion , a set of practical recommendations were presented, including the use of biodegradable materials in orthodontic treatments, promoting a culture of recycling, and training students on proper medical waste disposal procedures.
This activity is part of the College of Dentistry at University of Alkafeel efforts to promote environmental awareness in the medical field and raise the level of environmental responsibility among medical staff and students, achieving sustainable development and preserving community health.
