As an act of its activities , the Psychological Guidance and Educational Orientation Department at the University of Alkafeel organized the annual mourning ceremony to commemorate the martyrdom of the Noble Prophet Muhammad , peace be upon him and his family, on Sunday, 1 September 2024. This event reflects the university's commitment to upholding Islamic values and remembering the life of the greatest Prophet.
The ceremony was attended by the esteemed rector of the University, Prof. Dr. Nawras Mohammed Shaheed Al-Dahan, the deans of various colleges, members of the teaching and administrative staff and the university personnel to show a deep commitment to the religious and spiritual values that are central to the mission of the university .
The event, in the College of Dentistry building, began with a recitation of the Holy Quran by seid. Muhannad Al-Mayali, the director of the Quranic Institute , Najaf Al-Ashraf branch, pertinent to the Holy Al-Abbas Shrine. Then seid. Jaafar Al-Marouj delivered a lecture highlighting key moments from the noble chronicle of the Prophet Mohammed , peace be upon him and his progeny and how the prophet lived during an era rife with ignorance and injustice and the people were immersed in idol worship and pre-Islamic traditions. The lecturer emphasized the immense challenges faced by the Prophet , peace be upon him, in his mission to spread the message of Islam, endured much harm and oppression from his people and ultimately met his martyrdom by poisoning at the hands of those who could not bear the light of truth he brought.
Seid. Al-Marouj added that the suffering of the prophetdid not end with his life; it continued after his death, as his rights and his family`s rights were denied. This ongoing injustice remains a testament to the magnitude of his sacrifice and patience in upholding the word of Allah and promoting noble human values.
The ceremony concluded with poignant poetry portraying the suffering of the Noble Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) and his progeny , expressing sorrow and grief for the loss of this great personality that embodied the highest meanings of humanity and mercy.
This annual event is part of the University of Alkafeel efforts to preserve Islamic identity, enhance the spiritual and intellectual development of its students and staff, affirm its adherence to the path of Ahlalbayt (peace be upon them) and to promote religious awareness in the community.
